Jefferson.Dear BoBirdie Readers,

It’s been a bodacious year! All summer, I drove up and down the Shenandoah Valley, stopping at every golf course I’d heard of—and several hidden ones that I hadn’t.

Along the way, I met hundreds of golfers, workers, and course owners, from wrestling coach-legend-turned-golfer Bubby Whittington to George Pace “the music man.” The journey showed me that Southern hospitality is alive and well; everyone I spoke to wanted to help. In restaurants and resorts as diverse as the Valley itself, I was overwhelmed by the support I received.

Now, publishing Issue #2, I’m excited to share it all with you. This year, we’re bigger and better than ever, expanding our writing staff, showcasing more local characters and haunts, and boosting our social media presence (look out for our podcast and newsletter!).

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for joining me. Let’s tee off together and continue toward a 2024 full of bunkers, burgers, and everything in-between.

Yours,

Jefferson Burgess
